AUF Class of 2026 Marks Historic Graduation

A milestone ceremony at Palazzo Borghese celebrates both student achievement and a new era of international academic distinction.

On Friday, May 8, The American University of Florence’s Class of 2026 will officially walk the stage. Founded in 1997, this spring marks a momentous occasion for both the university and its students. Following official recognition by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a U.S.-based accrediting body that evaluates universities against rigorous academic and governance standards, AUF has become the only institution in Italy to receive this distinction. This achievement places the university in a uniquely respected position within the international academic landscape.

This year’s graduation will be the first to take place under this new recognition, and the atmosphere is expected to reflect the significance of the moment. Hosted at Palazzo Borghese, the ceremony will bring together students, family, friends and AUF staff to celebrate the hard work, growth and accomplishments of the Class of 2026. As students prepare to cross the stage, the event will serve not only as a graduation, but also as a celebration of AUF’s continued commitment to academic excellence and its growing global presence.
