The American University of Florence's Palazzi Community Center recently opened its doors for “COMIXETINA” Fumetto a piccole dosi. An exhibition featuring the artwork of young artists from the annual comic book course organized by the Local Health Authority of Tuscany Centre in collaboration with the La Nuova Tinaia Association.

Through comic book displays, the event showcased students' creativity and personal storytelling. Family members, friends, and fellow students all gathered around, filling the room with an atmosphere of excitement and support. Guests were able to move from panel to panel and admire the illustrations and share reactions with the artist.

The collaboration was born from a common objective: providing young people a platform to express themselves while receiving mentoring from experienced professionals. One mentor explained “it's a need that comes from the students, they needed to talk about themselves–so they did.”

While some students made completely original characters, others drew from pre-existing ones leading to surprising revelations that came from the process: "I was amazed to find characteristics of the person inside the drawings," illustrating how art can help people discover their own identities.

For many, this was the first time their work was shown in public. One student expressed, "I'm really embarrassed, I don't like to be the center of attention– but I'm also very proud of what we've done so far; what we've achieved, what we’ve learned … and I can't wait to do more." COMIXETINA celebrates art, personal expression, uniqueness and courage, inspiring the community with new visions and voices.

The Palazzi Community Center is located at Via Ricasoli, 21 and COMIXETINA will remain on display until Thursday, November 13.
